WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PAR AND BR BULBS?

BR stands for Bulged Reflector. PAR is short for Parabolic Aluminized Reflector.

What does the number after PAR or BR mean? This number is indicative of the diameter of the lamp in terms of 1/8ths of an inch. For example, a PAR38 bulb is (1/8 x 38)” or 4 ¾” across.

BR (for bulged reflector) bulbs are lamps with “wide flood” beam angles, which means that they provide more than a 45 degree angle when lighting an area.

PAR bulbs are lamps with "narrow flood or spot" beam angles, they provide less than a 45 degree angle like 25°, 40° or less.

A PAR-type bulb may produce more of a spotlight effect, whereas a BR-type bulb typically produces broader illumination, so you may want to look at BR30 bulbs unless you have high ceilings or prefer a more focused beam.

Though PAR 30 bulbs offer more options for lighting, both PAR and BR LED lamps are made to easily replace the energy-stealing halogen and incandescent lights. Because of this, both bulbs have the same medium (E26) base for North American sockets.

BR30
BR30 flood light bulbs are a classic choice for 4-inch recessed can fixtures, with their 3.75-inch diameters. We carry 9W LED (65W equivalent) dimmable and non-dimmable version reflector bulbs.
PAR38
PAR38 flood light bulbs are parabolic aluminized reflectors (PAR). They have 4.5-inch diameters, making them ideal in 5-inch recessed can or track light fixtures.

WHAT DO PAR20 PAR30 PAR38 STAND FOR?

Before our purchasing online or in front-store for LED lights, we need to know the measurement of light like Lumens, PAR, CRI, etc, then make a decision of which LED lights working best for your need, we are always not well prepared to accept some slangs like PAR20, PAR30, PAR38, what do they really mean for LED lights and how to figure out the indicative numbers and letters.

PAR is officially a short-going format of Parabolic Aluminized Reflector, and we take it as the indication of what type LED lamps are belonging to, It is widely used for the same effect like the stage, aircraft landing lights, home-living lights, etc, PAR LED lights are running for good effect under the lower budget.

You must realize what these affixed numbers mean? PAR20: 20 denotes, the exact measurement from brim to brim of LED lights, that is to say, 20/8 inch in diameter, approximately 64mm; PAR30 is standing for 30 denotes, 30/8 inch in length near to 95mm, PAR38. 38 denotes, 38/8 inch in length, is equal to 120mm.

All the above we are talking about is relative to the diameter, you will notice the difference, it will have PAR lights beaming in compact  angles in spite of the shapes of lens in flat, round and so on, this feature will be more useful than the traditional halogen lamp, also can be placed at plenty of sites for special lighting, such as flush lighting from the ceiling, or the particular lighting direction like stage show, wardrobe recessed lights as well as overhead lights in the bathroom.

HOW TO SELECT APPROPRIATE POWER SUPPLY FOR 12V/24V LED STRIPS

Step 1: Calculating the power consumption of the strip
*Calculating each strip's power by knowing the LED type and its rated power for each LED. The formula to calculate is Power Consumption = Wattage of each LED*LED quantity of strip length.

*For example,length 100cm of SMD5050,300LEDs/roll,60LEDs per 100cm, so its power consumption is 60*0.24=14.4Watt

Step 2: Choosing the appropriate type of power supply
* Non-waterproof power supply with power plug cord for indoor use 
* Non-waterproof metal housing heavy duty industrial series, screw terminal output 

* Waterproof IP65&IP67 power supply for outdoor use

Step 3: Selecting the right AMP & appropriate quantity of power supply
*The rule to choose the power supply for LED strips is to give enough power. We can power several rolls of the strip by one big enough power supply or by several that can supply enough power.
*Less power will do no harm to the strip, but just without enough power, the strip can not give out 100% of its brightness.
*And when choosing the power supply, we should have in mind that power supply must be de-rated 20% to prevent overheating.
*For example, to power 5meter of SMD5050 300LED (72Watt), it is recommended using the 96W power supply.

HOW TO USE LED FEXIBLE-LINK CONNECTORS?

How to use LED flexible-link connectors?
These flexible connectors will link together two lengths of LED strip lighting. They are an essential accessory when your LED strips needs to bend around corners (45 degrees or greater) or other obstructions.

Using them is again a similar process to the one described above: open the clips and insert the two LED strips into either side, so the copper pads are in contact with the tongs, then reseal the clips. Be sure to check that the positive and negative cables are connected correctly – ‘red’ to ‘+’ and ‘black’ to ‘-‘.

IF YOUR STRIP LIGHTS DO NOT LIGHT UP, WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

If your strip lights do not light up, what should you do? 
*Wire color does not always matter! Make sure you follow the positive side of the flex strip down through the solderless connector wire to the power supply. Red/black can either mean (+) or (-) depending on what side of the LED flex strip you have hooked the connector too.
*Another common problem is that the solderless connector may be installed upside down; repeat steps above and try again.
*Also, MAKE SURE the tray is closed all the way. Be gentle!
*Check your power supply and make sure it is hooked up properly, with correct (+) and (–) as well.
*Are you using 12v LED strips with a 24v Power supply? This will not work. Make sure the power unit.
*How many feet of the LED strip are you using vs how large your power unit is? If you are using 1 reel of 24v Ultra bright with e 2.5amp power unit, it will not work because the power unit is too small.

HOW TO INSTALL SOLDERLESS CONNECTORS FOR LED STRIP LIGHTING

How to install Solderless connectors for LED strip lighting?

*Cut along the marked line, and tear a little bit of 3M backing tape from the mark. ?If 3M tape is not peeled off a little, it will be harder to insert the strip into the connector.


*Lightly pull the black plastic lockout from the solderless connector. Pulling too hard may damage the LED solderless connector.

*Insert strip into the solderless connector. There are two sides to the connecting tray – make sure the wider of the white sides faces up. This is the top.

*Make sure the soldering pads fully touch the conjunction metal.

*Push the plastic lock back towards the middle into the lock position. Be gentle and make sure the mounting tray is securely closed or the lights will not light up. Double check the markings of (+) and (-) to make sure which color wire corresponds to each.

*For long-term use, try and use liquid tape or a bonding material to make sure the connector does not become loose.
